Advanced Test Equipment Lab Technicians Receive ASQ Certification

ATEC logoSAN DIEGO, Calif. - April 6, 2009 – Three of Advanced Test Equipment’s lab technicians have achieved Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) status from ASQ (American Society for Quality). This certification recognizes that each of our lab technicians have reached a significant level of professional recognition, indicating a proficiency in and a comprehension of calibration tools and techniques that support a variety of quality-related systems and processes. The lab technicians are Javier Estrada, Robert Keegan and Don Spitler. With these certifications, Advanced Test Equipment has achieved the goal of complete compliance of the laboratory with all staff and supervisory personnel certified through ASQ.

As Certified Calibration Technicians, Javier, Robert and Don will be able to test, calibrate, maintain and repair several elements of Advanced Test Equipment’s rental solutions and provide improvements to the company’s adherence to conform to established standards. The technicians understand and will be responsible for the principles and applications of metrology, calibration and measurement systems, as well as the principles of uncertainty, basic quality systems, and the application of quality tools and standards in a calibration environment.

“Javier, Robert and Don have been instrumental in reassuring that Advanced Test Equipment remains compliant with the ISO 9001 standard and progress toward IEC/ISO 17025 accreditation,” stated Advanced Test Equipments Operations Manager, Martin Jahn. “Their dedication to becoming ASQ-certified technicians validates their knowledge of calibration and techniques and furthers Advanced Test Equipment’s commitment to our customers to remain compliant to global quality standards.”

“ASQ provides certification as a way to provide formal recognition to professionals who have demonstrated an understanding of, and a commitment to, quality techniques and practices in their job and career,” explains Roberto Saco, President, American Society for Quality. “This is a great accomplishment and, although not a formal registration or licensure, it represents a high level of peer recognition.”

In order to sit for the CCT examination, an individual must have five years of on-the-job experience in one or more areas of the Certified Calibration Technician Body of Knowledge: general metrology, measurement systems, calibration systems, applied math and statistics and or quality systems and standards.
