This site - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

-- Amateur Radio
-- Anecdotes, Gripes & Humor
-- Antennas
-- CAE, CAD, & Software
-- Circuits & Components
-- Employment & Interviews
-- Miscellany
-- Swap Shop
-- Systems
-- Test & Measurement
-- Webmaster

Thanks for the compliments. As you know from your own site, it's a lot of work. There is a link on RF Cafe on the Amateur Radio page to your www.KC2SHO.com website, too.

Yes, the php forum software is very nice. It is used very widely across the web. For those interested in getting a copy, it can be downloaded here:

www.phpbb.com

Setup is a breeze if you follow the instructions verbatim. Mine worked the first time. I did need to find a program hack to allow people to vote in the polls without registering.

I'd like to move the polls to the RF Cafe home page, but that would require a separate database connection, which means even more $$$ each month to my ISP.

Thanks for writing.

Thanks again for link Kirt. I hope I can find some time to add some usefull content to the site soon.

I set my phpBB up on a Windows system and had a few problems, mostly my fault but also a little fault goes to the lack of documentation for Windows users. It was a "duh" feeling when I figured out what I was doing wrong. Still I would recomend the software to anyone looking to make a BB. I'm looking forward to the next release. There are some really nice mods out for phpBB. I've installed a few with minimal issues.
