IE7 and rf cafe - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

-- Amateur Radio
-- Anecdotes, Gripes & Humor
-- Antennas
-- CAE, CAD, & Software
-- Circuits & Components
-- Employment & Interviews
-- Miscellany
-- Swap Shop
-- Systems
-- Test & Measurement

the last week or so, I can not get on RF Cafe with IE7. Was something changed on this website that makes it incompatible with IE7. No problem with google chrome.

I get the old "internet explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close..."

Greetings biff44:

Thanks for letting me know about the problem you are having. I use IE7 as my default browser every day and have not seen that error. Now that you mention it, though, I have noticed an increase in how often IE7 just suddenly dies on other websites, but just dismissed it as typical IE behavior.

Nothing has changed fundamentally in the website design of RF Cafe. The page content changes daily, but I have not implemented and script or other proprietary coding that would cause the browser to crap out.

Have you notice whether it happens just on the homepage, or on any page you try to view? Here are a couple to try, if you don't mind, if you can't even get to the homepage long enough to go to another page.

Take care.

Jeez, I don't know what to tell you Kirt. All three of those links fail also. I tried with and without the McAfee firewall on. I am running IE 7.0.5730.11 on a windows XP Media Center SP3 OS, all ms and java updates are current.

Like I said, on the SAME computer I can get on using google chrome.

And, as luck would have it, I have no trouble with IE7 and RF Cafe using my laptop (IE7, windows XP Pro). They only weird thing is when I go to RF Cafe site, I first see a page of only grey bricks, and then it quickly loads to the full RF cafe page aroun 1/2 second later. Odd.

Don't know if you changed anything, but RF Cafe is now working on IE7 for me again. It was probably just something weird on my machine (a pox on bill gates).

Ha - that's funny! :smt038

I have not changed anything in the page format, so maybe it was one of those surreptitious weekly "patches" that MS issues. I've often had problems appear out of nowhere, and then a couple weeks later go away. :smt119

We're just pawns out here. The Linux guys would say we deserve what we get.
