Real k Factor values for West Africa - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi y'orl
Does anyone out there have real measured values of earth radius k factors valid for long rf paths in West Africa?
Whilst there are available formulas when you have humidity, temperature and pressure profiles over the first 1000 meters of height in the tropo, I am looking more for radio measured values over real links.
I am getting measured RF levels end-to-end on a VHF link of 100km that are way below most software model predictions.
