LMR-400 - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Hi there. Does anyone know of a good way of testing terminations on LMR cable? It seems that too often we don't have good connections as a result of improper terminations.

thanks
kevin

If you have a network analyzer handy, you can terminate one end of the cable path and flex the cable, shake/twist the connections, etc. Any problems would show up as return loss variation.

Otherwise, you can disassemble all the connections and check for contamination, broken or scratched contact areas, etc. Lots of problems are caused by poor mechanical connections.
