How to test WoWLAN - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi all,

I'm trying to test wake on wireless LAN. The wireless card i want to test are plug into a laptop. The laptop is wirelessly coonected to an AP. The AP is connected to a desktop through wire LAN cable. 1st - i confirm there is connection between the laptop and the desktop by using ping instruction. Then i put the laptop into sleep (S3). I try to ping the laptop from the desktop that is connected to the AP, but i see there is no responce on the laptop.

I found out in internet, need to use magic packet. Most of the magic packet software are for wake on wire LAN. I can't find one that is specific to WoWLAN.

Appreciate if you guys can share with me on how to test this WoWLAN feature in a wireless card.

You may use another computer under the same router/AP, whether wireless or wired it does not matter, send magic packet.
I 've tried WOL on the same laptop which has a intel 3945abg wireless card, works, unlike WOWLAN followed the step-by-steps on Intel website, when I turn my HP V3643TU laptop into standby or hibernation, the wireless light goes off.

Any chance to make the wireless indication light on, that would be the chance the WOWLAN works, because when I tried it with ethernet, the ethernet light is on whenever the laptop is in standby or hibernation mode.
