A recent student survey in the UK, published today,
found that in the UK science and engineering students
spent on average 35 hours a week studying (that
makes 133 hours drinking in bars and clubs).
Arts students (media studies, medieval church
knitting studies, history of rap groups 1950-200
studies etc) spent on average 20 hours per week.
15,000 students were questioned in one of the
largest such surveys ever done.
How about
this site doing a world-wide study on science and
engineering study hours per week? If each science
student asked 20 colleagues how many hours they
spent studying per week, that would reach quite
a large statistical sample.

Greetings nubbage:
That's a good idea. You
should be able to create a poll of your own from
your posting. It might be a good idea to start a
new thread in the Education forum area. If you create
the poll and provide a little text description of
your goal, I'll link to it as the next Forum Poll
on the RF Cafe homepage.
