SMA finger-tightening tool - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Can anybody identify the manufacturer of this tool?

It's a special tool for tightening SMA connectors.

The http://www.ni.com/communications is just advertising.
I have contacted NI and they don't know.

Pulse Research Labs has a finely machined product called SMA finger wrench

I have a couple of those plastic SMA connector tighteners down in the lab. I think they are trade show props for handing out to visitors. Don't recall seeing a manufacturer name on them - just the name of the company who paid for the promo. A quick Google Search didn't turn up anything either. You'd think they would be east to find.

Greetings:

UPDATE 4/17/2014: Bracke Manufacturing now offers an SMA Finger Wrench!

Like a lot of people, I have one of those plastic SMA tools as well, but mine says Agilent on it, and they don't make them either. I sent an e-mail to LeCroy to see where they get the ones they include with a couple of their instruments. No reply thus far.

All-around good guy Bob Davis sent me a link for another type of SMA connector tool that someone might be interested in. It is made by a company called Mountz.

Other sizes are available as well.

Speaking of SMA connectors, take a look at the spacing of the ones on this new SP5T RF switch by Narda Microwave East. Note that the adjoining sides of the connector flanges share a mounting screw where the ends have been milled off. Now that is tight spacing!
