Polarization in cellular propagation - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hay all,

Can some one point me to some papers about the best polarization for a base station? I mean what is the average polarization of a signal that came from a cellular phone?

The polarization plane is randomly varying all the time.
many research papers have been written on this topic.

The optimum antenna arrangement seems to be two antennas inclined at 45 degrees to each other and fed through a combiner.

Do a google under "mobile" and "diversity" and "polarisation".

I didn't actually keep any as it is not my present field of involvement.
Did you do a Google Search under "mobile" and "diversity" and "polarisation"?

For me this threw up a lot of references. Many however are subscription-only research institutes I don't have a subscription on. But if you have access to a uni library they would be useful.
