Noise in Communication Systems - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi I'm doing a report on noise in communication systems and I can't find enough info anyone that can help????
Also I'm doing a reaserch on simulating noise in computers ???

What about simulating AWGN in computers does anyone know where I can get this type of info. I know is based on Gaussian statistics but HOW?????????????????????????????/ :?:

I would think the dominant noise in a computer is the multiple clocks, their harmonics, and their mixing products - very nasty. It is the reason that building WLAN and Bluetooth into computers has been so difficult. So AWGN probably pales in comparison. In other words, the dominant noise in a computer chassis is not white noise (random) at all, but highly predictable.

This might be of use. Also, search on the NIST website for specifically what you're looking for. Our tax dollars have funded a lot ofresearch on the topic.
