US Visa cap reached - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hi! I just want to know something about US working visas. Is October the only month they release H1Bs? I heard that they've reached their allotted cap for this year so those applying shall be defferred next year. Don't they release in April?

the Cap has reached for 65k general quota, However there are still H1 left for people with advanced degrees.

There is only one quota left for ppl with advanced degrees..the 20K quota..

Only people with Masters/Phd degrees from USA can apply in that quota.

Those are people who came from other countries to study in US, and they need H1B visa in order to work after graduation.

International people who come to US for studying come on a student visa (F-1). To work in a company, the company has to apply for their work permit (H1-B). F-1 is only valid till the time they are in college, and maybe for a year after their studies (if they apply for practical training).
