LCC/WFI or tier-2 companies - AirCom, Celcite, MobilComm,? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Some thoughts to ponder!

- In an upmarket like these days - huge demand -low supply of quality engineers, clients (carriers/vendors) are opening up their doors to tier 2 consulting companies like AirCom, MobilComm, cellcite,InCode etc. there are ample of projects for these companies as well as the 2 biggies - LCC & WFI (god bless Marconi's soul!...they are not as big as MSI used to be)..does it really matter when the salaries are competetive + similar or better benefits (401K, med +dental insurances etc) to go for the big ones ...they even make you pay for your immigrations !!

- Sometimes I feel these smaller companies have an edge over their bigger rivals especially because they work on lower margins / low overheads and better packages for their employees - they can really thrive while the biggies still try to maintain their big packages for the top management + squeeze the employees (by offerning no pay on bench) etc.

Fortunately these days all consultants (or contractors ) have a project, but its worth remembering the 2001-2003 down phase when the true colors or all companies were revealed!

- Happy minting!
