v.o.i.p. - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Below are the old forum threads, including responses to the original posts.

Although most people probably think of Internet telephony when they see VoIP, voice chatting as with Microsoft Messenger or AOL Instant Messenger is also VoIP.

My first VoIP experience was with a crude video/audio camera setup I did between my home and my inlaws' home back in the late 1990s. Both computers had around 33k baud dial-up connections. It was lousy, but it did work, kind-of.

I am actually looking into buying a couple USB headsets to try for use between work and home. The USB headsets are more expensive, but take care of the A/D and D/A functions so the computer does not have to be burdened to do it.
