gaussian filter design - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Hello,

I'm working on modelling a system that include a gaussian low pass filter on litterature on the net i can find information about the waveform of the filter but i can't find nothing about the formulas to determine the L,C and R values. Does someone can help me or knows a website with this information ?
Thanks

Franck

If you need a design of a filter, there is a program on the website:http://tonnesoftware.com/. called ELSIE. You can put in your parameters ( stop band, passband etc) and it will spit out the values for the filter.

Greetings RF-Ban:

After reading of your need for the Gaussian prototype values, I did a search for them and could not locate tables for the Gaussian filter. So, I used a filter design program and set the frequency for 1/(2*pi) and the source/load terminations for 1 ohm and came up with a table of values for order 3 through 10. If you still need them, you can find them here:

http://www.rfcafe.com/references/electr ... values.htm

While I was at it, I updated the Chebyshev tables to include even-order filter values. A lot of tables only supply odd-order values, because the insertion loss of a Chebyshev at DC (0 Hz) is equal to the ripple value rather than 0 dB.
