Hi all,

I would like to know more about the power detector circuit which is included in the power amplifiers.
I am more interested in power amplifiers for 802.11a/b/g.
Can someone suggest some articles on designing the power detector for the same ?

Thanks
Pallavi

I would assume that some type of directional coupler is used. You do not want the detector to affect impedance or S21 params. So using a driectional coupler would satisfy those requirements. At the pooper end of the coupler I would think a simple detector diode with temp comp. But you did mention 802, and I am not versed in the technology so maybe I should be quiet

Hello ,

I am designing a MMIC PA and i want a power detector to be added on to the same chip.
Hence i want some guidelines for designing a power detector.
Any related articles on power detector would be very helpful.

with best regards,
Pallavi

Hi,

Check the following Paper

http://www.ireap.umd.edu/MURI-2001/Revi ... gailis.pdf

Are you designing using GaAs or SiGe?
