AWR, EAGLEWARE, ETC Which one ? - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

Until recently I have avoided using expensive and often unfriendly commercial design simulation software and instead used various free programs and mathcad routines / spreadsheets etc for such tasks as: Amplifier design and analysis, filters, matching, PLLs etc etc. This approach has served me quite well but there are occasions when I need a bit more than my cheap approach allows. Getting to the point of this question.....

Which design/analysis software is worth considering, and why? The two names that I seem to hear quite a bit are AWR and Eagleware. ????????

It depends on what do u expect from the software.Genesys serves good synthesis tools i.e Matching network;Active/Passive/Microwave Filters;Oscillator , Mixer etc.AWR serves good EM simulator in addition to filter synthesis tools.I think Agilent ADS is best for both analysis and synthesis.If u want analysis software u can choose AWR but if u want synthesis software u can choose Genesys.
