Faulty Radio Shack Ant.Rotors - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

...well I've bought 3 RS rotors in the last 5 years and they have all failed. I'am using a very light 2 meter 5 element beam ant. seems like some kind of mechanical failure..the darn things will freeze in one dir.and will only budge mabe a 1/2 inch when I try to turn them..the things are crimped closed with no exposed hrdware to disasemble for inspection and repair..I won't buy any more of the things and will buy a good Yasu rotor next time..but has anybody got any idea why/what's going on here?? 3 in 5 years seems like a high failure rate... :(

Yeh, the problem is they are made in China. Cheap Chinese things arent worth the money.

Didn't we used to say that about things made in Japan?

If you are a "Back to the Future" fan, you may recall Doc (1950s at the time) making a comment to Marty about cheap Japanese electronics. Marty, being from the 1980s, puzzles at Doc's remark, and retorts that some of the best stuff now comes from Japan.

Like it or not, the same thing will happen with China.

...and why shouldn't it, we're giving them the best American-designed equipment and software in the world to compete against us.
