Dipole on a PCB - RF Cafe Forums

The original RF Cafe Forums were shut down in late 2012 due to maintenance issues - primarily having to spend time purging garbage posts from the board. At some point I might start the RF Cafe Forums again if the phpBB software gets better at filtering spam.

 Post subject: Dipole on a PCB

I am new to the Antenna Design Field. I need to put a dipole antenna on my PCB. Frequency of Operation is 2.4GHz. I see that the length of the Antenna (half wave dipole) can be calculated from the wavelength (0.5* 300/2400 cm).
I am not sure about the balun, transmission line and feed point design. I have questions like which would be a good Transmission line- a coax or a twin lead conductor, what would be the length of the Transmission line, how to design a balun.
I would highly appreciate if someone can throw some light on it or direct me with any resource links, which would help my cause.

Many cellphones and other devices that use Bluetooth circuitry have the antennas printed right onto the PCBs. The vast majority of WLAN (802.11b/g/n) PCBs use printed antennas.

Your question is covered extensively in many books (1) and papers (2,3).

hi, I am required to simulate a microstrip dipole antenna on Feko. I have found a reliable design but am having problems with feko. is there anyone out there who is able to help me.
